His Holiness the Patriarch receives His Excellency the Director General of the Austrian Development Agency

On July 23, 2024, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II received His Excellency Ambassador Friedrich Stift, General Manager of Austrian Development Agency, accompanying His Excellency the Charge d’Affaires of the Austrian Embassy in Syria Mr. Peter Krois, at the Patriarchate Headquarters in Bab Touma, Damascus.

His Holiness welcomed their Excellencies and discussed with them the current situation in Syria. He welcomed the discussions initiated by 8 European Countries to review and update the EU position on Syria. He also called for lifting up the sanctions from the Syrian people.

His Eminence Archbishop Mor Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Assistant, and Mr. Hisham Saad, Executive Director of EPDC, attended the meeting.
