
Opening of the Friendly Church Football Tournament.
In the presence of Their Eminences: Bishop Mor Andrawos Bahhi, Patriarchal Vicar for Youth Affairs and Christian Education, and Mor Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Assistant, the Friendly Church Football Tournament was opened yesterday, Friday, November 8, at the Nidal Stadium, which is held under the patronage of St. Ephrem Patriarchal Development Committee (#EPDC) in cooperation with the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) and in coordination with the The Syriac Orthodox Patriarchal Youth Department (SPYD) and the Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East for the Syriac Orthodox.
The opening was attended by Eng. Hisham Saad, Executive Director of EPDC, a team from EPDC and a large audience of supporters.
The Church Friendly Football Championship is one of the activities implemented by the EPDC in collaboration with the LWF as part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign to highlight the importance of combating violence, particularly against women, and to achieve a society that enjoys peace and is free from all forms of violence and discrimination.
20 teams from church clubs participate in the tournament.
