His Eminence Bishop Mor Boutros Kassiss, General Manager of St. Ephrem Patriarchal Development Committee EPDC,, accompanied by Eng. Hisham Saad, the Executive Director of EPDC, and several members of the administrative team, paid a visit to Daraa and its countryside to review the relief and development projects carried out by EPDC.
The visit particularly focused on the humanitarian response to families displaced from Sweidaa Governorate, as EPDC continues to fulfill its humanitarian duty by providing assistance in shelters and distributing diverse and essential aid. His Eminence also discussed with the residents their needs for the upcoming phase.
He then proceeded to the town of Busra Al-Sham to observe community protection projects. In the Safe Space for Women, His Eminence listened to the women’s stories and experiences with psychological support and awareness sessions, learning how these activities helped them strengthen their self-confidence and build greater awareness within their families and communities. With encouraging words, he expressed pride in their achievements and urged them to continue on this path.
In the Child-Friendly Space, children welcomed him with innocent songs and spontaneous laughter. He shared joyful moments with them in their daily activities, affirming that a smile is the most beautiful language that unites us all.
His Eminence also visited the site of two rehabilitated boreholes in Busra Al-Sham, where integrated solar energy systems had been installed and the boreholes equipped with the latest mechanical and electrical systems, thanks to generous support from SHF.
He was further briefed on the progress of rehabilitation works at the Simej and Al-Smaqiyat boreholes, emphasizing the importance of these projects in providing safe daily-use water for residents of the town and neighboring villages. He stressed that these initiatives represent an investment in the future by relying on renewable energy, protecting the environment, and ensuring the sustainability of resources.
At the conclusion of his visit, His Eminence met with EPDC team in Daraa to hear about their achievements and challenges. He praised their efforts and encouraged them to continue their humanitarian mission with love and determination, ensuring that EPDC projects remain a source of hope, support, and empowerment for the people of Daraa and its countryside.
Through joint efforts and sincere dedication, EPDC continues its work in Daraa and its countryside, bringing renewed hope to all.
