Field visit to the city of Palmyra

His Eminence Mor Boutros Kassis, Archbishop of Aleppo and Environs and General Manager of the St. Ephrem Patriarchal Development Committee (EPDC), conducted a field visit to the city of Palmyra to review the project launched by EPDC through the “Restoration and Rehabilitation of the Guest House, the Arab Castle Bridge, and Afqa Spring in Palmyra.”

Amid the stones of ancient history and the spirit of civilization that still breathes within the place, studies and assessments are underway to implement restoration and rehabilitation works for damaged sites in Palmyra, preserving a rich human heritage that carries the memory of generations and stands as a living witness to the greatness of Syrian history. A new step toward reviving beauty and hope, and restoring life to landmarks that have long been part of the identity of both the place and its people.

His Eminence was accompanied by Eng. Hisham Saad, Executive Director of EPDC, along with the EPDC project team, the Director of Antiquities for the Palmyra Department, and a team from the Directorate General of Antiquities and Museums (DGAM) in Palmyra.

During the visit, His Eminence reviewed the sites scheduled for rehabilitation, with a focus on the contribution of the local community in implementing these works to encourage the return of residents and support the revival of the Palmyra site.
