Channels of Hope project
Protection project
The project is based on holding a series of training for supervisors of children in different regions of Syria, resulting in meaningful community initiatives for children and caregivers. These initiatives are implemented in cooperation with priests and religious leaders in churches from various sects and dioceses, and officials of religious education centers in coordination with the administrative EPDC staff.
In 2023:
443 caregivers, in addition to 591 male and female children, participated in the project, and it was held in 9 dioceses in the governorates.
The Protection Project team visits shelter centers and provides psychosocial support sessions and awareness of psychological and mental health. It participates with children in various and purposeful interactive activities and supportive educational lessons to compensate for the educational loss.
It provides case management services and sessions for the children’s families as well as for families in the targeted areas. The project provides its services to approximately 400 beneficiaries of children and their families within 9 shelter centers in various neighborhoods in the city (Hano, Sukkari, Suleiman Al-Halabi, Al-Zahra, New Aleppo, Khalidiya) and in several areas affected by the earthquake.
Project duration: September 15, 2023 until February 29, 2024
11,615 beneficiaries for the entire project.
1,964 beneficiaries of awareness-raising activities on common mental health conditions in emergencies.
250 beneficiaries were referred to a psychiatrist.
Distributions:
917 stationery shares for children in shelters and in various areas affected by the earthquake.
2,247 NFI shares and a solar energy unit for students’ families and in various areas affected by the earthquake.
