Crac des Chevaliers preservation project
In one of the important and vital projects to rehabilitate and preserve the Syrian cultural heritage, St. Ephrem Patriarchal Development Committee (EPDC) subordinated to The Syriac Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East, along with the scientific arm represented by Antioch Syrian Private University (ASU) entered a tripartite partnership with the General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums (DGAM) and Pázmány Peter Catholic University (PPCU) in Hungary.
The purpose of this agreement is to restore and rehabilitate the Church and the al-Malik al-Zahir Baybars Tower with its surroundings, in Crac des Chevaliers in the frame of the Hungary Helps Agency support. The project aims to contribute to the rehabilitation and preservation of this important site, which has been registered on the World Heritage List since 2006.
This project has provided about 25 job opportunities including cash for work modality and contracting.
