Successes, Achievements, and New Areas of Outreach
As 2025 begins, hopes are renewed for Syrians seeking a more stable life.
Despite growing humanitarian and living challenges, EPDC, the humanitarian arm of the Syriac Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East, continues under the guidance and care of His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II to stand by people, offering support that protects their dignity and strengthens their resilience for a better future.
In the first half of 2025, EPDC strengthened partnerships with key donors NCA, ZOA, and SHF, joined the Syrian NGO Forum, and expanded its geographic presence by opening new centers.
This has allowed it to reach more beneficiaries with programs and projects delivered by its dedicated volunteer team, who carry out their work with responsibility and compassion, always placing people and their dignity at the heart of humanitarian action.
The Committee’s expansion into new areas has boosted its ability to serve a larger number of people and ensure continuous support in many sectors, directly addressing community needs.
New areas in 2025 where the Committee began implementing various projects include:
-
Douma in Rural Damascus, through an agricultural support project.
-
Al-Qutayfah in the Qalamoun area, through a child protection project.
-
The city of Al-Suqaylabiyah in Rural Hama, through agricultural support projects.
-
Al-Zirbah in Rural Aleppo, through a protection project (combating gender-based violence).
-
Busra al-Sham in Rural Daraa, through community protection centers (a safe space for women and a child-friendly space).
-
Rehabilitation of 4 wells and 2 water tanks in Rural Daraa (Busra al-Sham, Samj, and Al-Samaqiyat) powered by solar energy systems.
